One connected group without a straight triple
Choose 3, 4 or 5 hazards on a 4×4 board. All hazards form one component connected by shared edges. No row or column contains three consecutive hazard cells. Diagonal triples are not excluded by this rule. All 36, 33 or 16 legal layouts respectively are equally likely, and one layout stays fixed throughout the round.
Initial and updated safe probabilities
With 3 hazards, a corner is initially safe with probability 11/12, an edge cell away from a corner has probability 5/6 and a central cell 2/3. From a 20-coin stake, a safe corner starts a value of 20×0.97/(11/12), about 21.164 coins; a safe central cell gives 29.1 coins. Observations update the compatible layouts, so later odds can increase or decrease. With 4 or 5 hazards there are 33 or 16 legal layouts.
Collect and eligible choices
Collect is available after a safe reveal. Proven hazards are unavailable; proven-safe cells have probability 1 and add no value. A choice with next value above 1000 times stake is unavailable. When no eligible uncertain choice remains, the current value is banked automatically. The guard is not a promise that 1000×stake can be reached.
Persisted wallet and manual refill
Settled balance and fractional payout carry persist in localStorage. Reloading during a round ends it without refunding its already deducted stake. Outside a round, refill restores 1000 coins when balance is below the smallest stake; it does not add 1000 or reset fractional carry. Hazard count, stake and refill are locked during play.

What is the connected-group rule?
Choose 3, 4 or 5 hazards on a 4×4 board. All hazards form one component connected by shared edges. No row or column contains three consecutive hazard cells. Diagonal triples are not excluded by this rule. All 36, 33 or 16 legal layouts respectively are equally likely, and one layout stays fixed throughout the round.
How is value calculated?
Live value starts at 0.97 times the virtual stake. A safe reveal divides it by that cell’s exact conditional safe probability among the remaining compatible legal layouts. A hazard ends the round with zero return. Reveals change knowledge, not the hidden layout.
